OralAdvance™ & Dentistry
|
No professional group has a better opportunity to make a
positive impact on oral cancer than members of the dental
community. Historically done in family practice office
screening for oral cancer has recently gained momentum
in dental practice. Testing the existing patient population
with OralAdvance™ could yield thousands of opportunities
to catch oral cancer in its early, more easily treated
stages.
Discovery and diagnosis
It can be difficult to determine which abnormal oral tissues
should be investigated for cancer, especially since the average
person can routinely have oral conditions that mimic the
appearance of pre-cancerous changes, and very early cancers
of the soft tissues.
As a general recommendation, any potentially
suspicious lesion, discoloration, induration, prominent
tissue, irritation or hoarseness which does not resolve
within a two-week period, is worthy of further examination.
